There's No Place Like OzCon!
June 30 - July 2, 2017
Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel - Portland, Oregon
In 2017 OzCon International returns to the Airport Sheraton in Portland, Oregon. From June 30 to July 2, we will celebrate L. Frank Baum's eleventh Oz book, The Lost Princess of Oz, which turns one hundred this year. The "Lost Princess" of the title is, of course, Ozma, ruler of the Land of Oz. There will also be guests, along with panels and presentations on many other Ozzy topics.
Director/Animator Doug Aberle, will share with us his experiences animating the Nome King in the 1985 Disney motion picture Return to Oz
John Fricke, Oz historian and expert on Judy Garland, returns to OzCon with his special brand of wit and panache.
Inanna McGraw, co-author of Merry Go Round in Oz and The Forbidden Fountain of Oz, will sign books and meet fans on Saturday.
The Royal Banquet of Oz
(Separate ticket required!)
The Royal Banquet of Oz on Saturday evening will be catered by the Portland Sheraton Airport Hotel, with a choice of Beef, Fish, or Vegetarian cuisine. Awards will be presented to winners of the Oz Research table, costume participants, quizzes, and the annual Winkie Award. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance. See registration for for details.
The deadline for purchasing Banquet tickets is June 15th!
Sunday Afternoon Riverboat Cruise!
(Separate ticket required!)
After an exciting weekend of events at Ozcon, enjoy a relaxing river trip on a Columbia River sternwheeler on Sunday afternoon! Leaving Cascade Locks at 1:30 PM, the ship sails west for an hour, returns to the dock, then sails east for an hour. The captain guides the tour. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase on=board.
Box lunches may be ordered in advance for $12.50.
Please contact the registrar for more information.
The deadline for purchasing cruise tickets is June 15th!
OzCon will feature all our traditional activities: Oz quizzes for all ages and levels, the Oz Treasure Hunt, the Oz Research Table, the Oz Dealers Room, Oz Show and Tell to share your rare and wonderful Oz discoveries, panel discussions, displays, and super after-parties.
Get on your cOZplay for the OzCon Masquerade on Saturday afternoon! Dress as your favorite Oz or Oz-related character to show your costume-making expertise. Prizes will be awarded, including $100 cash prize for Best Adult Costume (15 years and older) and $50 cash prize for Best Child Costume (14 years and younger). This year the $50 cash Theme Prize will go to the costume best exemplifying the theme "The Search for the Lost Princess."
And we'll end our convention with a fabulous cruise on the Columbia River! (This event is ticketed separately.)
So plan to be with us. Where else next summer will you be able to take Oz quizzes, parade your Oz costume (with prizes at stake), bid on rare items in an Oz auction, and browse the Oz sales room? It's your once-a-year chance to mix and mingle with so many people who know and love Oz in all its aspects - books, art, games, movies, comics, graphic novels, t-shirts, peanut butter jars, and wind-up Cowardly Lions. If you've attended before, reunite with old friends; if you haven't, there are friends to be made. Why resist?

The highlight of OzCon 2017 will be a live performance re-creating the 1933-34 Wizard of Oz radio program originally sponsored by Jell-O. It's sure to be sweet!
2017 is the 110th anniversary of the other book named for the Lost Princess, Ozma of Oz, so a glance at that story is in order. Programs include presentations on the Cinar animated Wizard of Oz, upcoming Oz movie and television projects, the Nomes in the Oz books, and the 1933 Eshbaugh animated Wizard of Oz.
Convention program subject to change without notice.
